In these days leading up to Lent, thank you for answering the call to help feed the hungry in our community.
With your generous support, our Faith Formation's "Love Your Neighbor" Food Drive collected over 720 pounds of food! That equates to providing approximately 600 meals to our neighbors in need! All items will be used to stock the shelves of Saint Timothy's St. Vincent de Paul food pantry. Every donation truly makes a difference. It’s warming to know that a small act on our part can directly impact someone else’s life in greater ways than we could imagine!
On the chilly morning of Saturday, February 13th, our Faith Formation 9th grade students Keira, Paige, Jacob, and Hayden handled the "drive-thru" food drive station in the church parking lot.
Then on the brisk morning of Sunday, February 14th, our Faith Formation 10th grade students Mya, Ryan, Zach, Corey, and Sergio took over the "drive-thru" duties and collected the donations as they came in.
On both days, our students also helped with bringing over donations from the food drive collection boxes in the church, and sorting and organizing everything.
To our 9th and 10th grade Faith Formation students, we appreciate your service!
Hunger can be found everywhere – often where we least expect it.
Whether you helped with a donation, sharing the word of our food drive with others, or praying for our collection, we thank you! It may seem like a small act, but to someone else it can be the difference between food on their table or skipping another meal. This successful service project clearly shows the generous spirit of everyone involved. To all our parishioners and friends, we could not have done this without you.
Thanks for your amazing support! God bless!
“Not all of us can do great things.
But we can do small things
with great love.”
– Saint Teresa of Calcutta
The St. Vincent de Paul Society’s mission is to fulfill the two great Commandments – love of God and love of neighbor.
The Society seeks out God’s needy, both materially and spiritually, and helps where and when they can. Sometimes they can do little more than just listen and comfort. Sometimes they are able to help with a bag of donated foodstuffs, or by assisting with the necessities of life.
SVDP is not just a “provider of emergency food orders.” Vincentians are also concerned with the needs of the aged, lonely, handicapped, permanently sick or housebound, and persons in convalescent nursing homes and hospitals. Persons to be aided are met “on an equal basis,” never looked down upon, and always thought of as brothers and sisters in Christ.
